Sculpt Your Body
TruSculpt
TruSculpt is a non-invasive body contouring treatment that utilizes advanced monopolar radiofrequency (RF) technology to target and eliminate stubborn fat cells. This innovative procedure is designed to sculpt and tone various areas of the body, including the abdomen, thighs, flanks, and under the chin, offering a personalized solution for individuals seeking to enhance their body shape without the need for surgery.
How It Works
TruSculpt employs low-frequency RF energy to penetrate deep into the subcutaneous fat layer, selectively heating fat cells to a therapeutic temperature. This controlled heating process induces apoptosis, causing the fat cells to break down and be naturally eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system over time. The treatment is customizable, allowing practitioners to tailor the procedure to each patient’s unique body contours and aesthetic goals.
Treatment Experience
Sessions typically last between 25 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of areas being treated. During the procedure, patients may experience a warm sensation as the RF energy is delivered. Most individuals find the treatment comfortable and can resume normal activities immediately afterward, with minimal to no downtime.
Results & Benefits
Fat Reduction: Clinical studies have shown an average fat reduction of 24% in treated areas.
Skin Tightening: The RF energy stimulates collagen production, leading to improved skin texture and firmness.
Non-Surgical: No incisions or anesthesia are required, reducing the risks associated with surgical procedures.
Minimal Downtime: Patients can return to their daily routines immediately after treatment.
If you’re looking to contour your body and reduce stubborn fat without the need for invasive surgery, TruSculpt by Cutera offers a safe and effective solution. What TruSculpt Is — and What It Isn't
TruSculpt is a body contouring treatment, not a weight loss treatment — and that distinction matters before you book.
Weight loss reduces the size of fat cells throughout your body.
Body contouring targets and eliminates fat cells in specific areas. TruSculpt uses monopolar radiofrequency energy to heat fat cells in a targeted zone to a temperature that causes them to break down permanently — those specific cells are then cleared by your body’s lymphatic system over the following weeks. The result is measurable reduction in the treated area, with clinical studies showing an average of 24% fat reduction.
What this means in practice: TruSculpt is most effective for patients who are at or near their goal weight but have areas of stubborn fat that don’t respond to diet and exercise. The abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, under the chin, and bra area are all treatable. It’s not a substitute for a weight loss program, and it works best when the patient’s weight is reasonably stable going in.
The right candidate is someone who looks at their overall body and is largely happy with it — except for one or two areas that just won’t budge no matter what they do. That’s exactly the problem TruSculpt was designed to solve.
TruSculpt vs CoolSculpting — What's the Difference?
Both TruSculpt and CoolSculpting are non-surgical body contouring treatments that permanently eliminate fat cells in targeted areas. They’re often compared because they’re solving the same problem — but they work differently, and the differences are worth understanding.
How they work:
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to freeze fat cells — a process called cryolipolysis. TruSculpt uses radiofrequency heat to achieve the same outcome through a different mechanism. Both approaches cause fat cell death, and both rely on the lymphatic system to clear the eliminated cells over time.
Treatment experience:
CoolSculpting uses suction applicators that pull the tissue into a cooling panel — some patients find this uncomfortable, particularly during the initial freeze and the massage that follows. TruSculpt delivers heat through flat handpieces placed on the skin. Most patients describe a warm sensation similar to a hot stone massage. There’s no suction, no pulling, and no post-treatment massage required.
Treatment time and areas:
TruSculpt can treat multiple areas simultaneously using several handpieces at once, which means a full treatment session can be completed in as little as 15–30 minutes per area. CoolSculpting treats one area at a time with each applicator cycle taking approximately 35–60 minutes.
Skin tightening:
TruSculpt’s radiofrequency energy stimulates collagen production in addition to eliminating fat cells — which means there’s a skin tightening benefit alongside the contouring. CoolSculpting addresses fat only, without the collagen stimulation component.
The bottom line:
Both treatments work. The right choice depends on the areas you’re treating, your tolerance for the treatment experience, and your specific goals. At Fountain, a consultation will give you an honest assessment of which approach — or which combination — makes sense for your situation.
Before & After
Frequently Asked Questions
How does TruSculpt work?
TruSculpt delivers monopolar radiofrequency energy through handpieces placed on the skin, heating the fat layer beneath to a therapeutic temperature that causes fat cells to undergo apoptosis — a natural cell death process. The body then clears the eliminated fat cells through the lymphatic system over the following weeks. The process is selective: the RF energy targets the fat layer specifically without damaging the skin above it or the tissue beneath. Clinical studies have shown an average fat reduction of 24% in treated areas after a single session.
What areas can be treated with TruSculpt?
TruSculpt can treat the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, under the chin, and the bra area. Multiple areas can be treated in the same session using several handpieces simultaneously. Your provider will assess your areas of concern at consultation and design a treatment plan around your specific goals — including how many handpieces will be needed and what realistic results look like for each area.
How long does a TruSculpt treatment session take?
Each area takes approximately 15 minutes of active treatment time. Because multiple handpieces can be used simultaneously, a full session treating several areas can typically be completed in 30–60 minutes depending on the scope of treatment. Your provider will give you a specific time estimate based on your treatment plan at consultation.
Is there any downtime after the treatment?
Minimal to none. Most patients return to normal activity immediately after their session. The treated area may feel warm, tender, or slightly swollen for a day or two — similar to the feeling after a workout. There are no restrictions on activity, no compression garments required, and no recovery period to plan around. This is one of TruSculpt’s meaningful practical advantages over surgical alternatives.
Are the results permanent
The fat cells that are eliminated don’t come back — fat cells don’t regenerate once destroyed. In that sense, yes, the results are permanent for the treated cells. However, remaining fat cells in the area can still expand if weight is gained after treatment. For this reason TruSculpt iD works best for patients whose weight is stable and who intend to maintain it. The treatment eliminates specific cells; maintaining the result over time still depends on the patient’s lifestyle.
How is TruSculpt different from just losing weight?
Weight loss shrinks fat cells throughout your body — it doesn’t eliminate them, and it doesn’t target specific areas. TruSculpt permanently destroys fat cells in a precise treatment zone, which is why it’s effective for stubborn areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise. The two approaches complement each other rather than compete — TruSculpt is most effective when a patient is at or near their goal weight and using it to address specific areas that remain resistant. It’s a finishing tool, not a starting point.
