Understanding Dermal Fillers:
More Than Just Wrinkle Smoothing
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments that transcend mere wrinkle reduction.
These versatile fillers can:
- Smooth out lines around the nose and mouth (marionette lines, smile lines, and parentheses)
- Enhance and restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
- Diminish vertical lip lines
- Plump and enhance the lips
- Smooth out a chin crease
- Improve symmetry among facial features
The Power of Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
HA is a naturally occurring substance in the skin, responsible for maintaining plumpness and hydration. FDA-approved HA fillers, such as Juvéderm and Restylane, utilize this sugar-based gel technology to provide hydration, fullness, and elasticity.

What to Expect — and What Good Filler Actually Looks Like
Because Sculptra works differently than most injectables, the experience timeline is worth understanding before your first appointment.
The treatment series: Sculptra is typically administered over a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart rather than a single appointment. Your provider will recommend a plan based on your areas of concern and your goals — most patients complete two to three sessions.
The results timeline: This is the part that surprises people most. You won’t see dramatic change in the days immediately following treatment. Sculptra works gradually as collagen production is stimulated — most patients begin noticing improvement over the first few weeks, with fuller results visible over the following months. The gradual nature of the change is part of why results look so natural.
After your appointment: Some swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few days. You’ll be asked to massage the treated areas for several days post-treatment — this helps distribute the product evenly and is an important step in getting the best result.
Longevity: Results from a complete Sculptra treatment plan can last up to two years — significantly longer than most traditional fillers. Many patients choose a single maintenance session annually to sustain their results.

Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us at info@fountaingh.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Will filler make me look fake or overdone?
Not when it’s done with the right philosophy. The overfilled look that concerns most people is the result of too much product — not the product itself. At Fountain, we treat proportion as the goal. A result that makes you look like a better version of yourself is the standard we hold every appointment to. We’d rather have you come back for more than leave with too much.
What's the difference between Juvéderm and Restylane?
Both are hyaluronic acid fillers — the same core ingredient, different formulations. Juvéderm tends to have a softer, more fluid consistency and is often preferred for lips and areas requiring smooth integration. Restylane products are generally firmer and can offer more structural support. In practice, the choice of product depends on the area being treated and your provider’s clinical preference. At Fountain, product selection is part of the treatment plan — not something you need to research in advance.
How long does filler last?
It depends on the product used and where it’s placed. Lip filler typically lasts 6–12 months. Cheek filler and fillers placed in less mobile areas can last 12–18 months or longer. Over time and with repeat treatments, many patients find their results lasting longer as the product builds on itself. Your provider will give you a specific expectation based on your treatment plan.
Is there anything I should do to prepare?
Avoid blood thinners — including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and alcohol — for several days before your appointment if possible, as these increase the likelihood of bruising. Come with a clean face and no makeup. If you have an event coming up, book at least two weeks in advance to allow for full settling.
Are there any side effects I should know about?
Swelling, tenderness, and minor bruising at the injection sites are the most common and typically resolve within a few days to a week. Lips tend to swell more noticeably than other areas — this is normal and temporary. Serious complications from filler are rare and significantly less likely when treatment is performed by a trained, experienced provider. We review your health history before every appointment and will flag anything that warrants extra caution.
What's the difference between the Liquid Facelift and the Triangle of Youth?
Both are comprehensive treatments that address multiple areas of the face in a single appointment — but they have different focuses. The Liquid Facelift combines fillers with Botox or Dysport to address volume loss, deep folds, and loss of lift across the whole face. The Triangle of Youth targets the specific structural framework — temples, cheeks, jawline — that defines a youthful facial shape. Think of the Liquid Facelift as a full reset and the Triangle of Youth as a structural restoration. A consultation will help determine which approach fits your goals.
